I seriously haven’t done one of these since March 10?
Really, Amanda?
Currently Spinning: Adore the single “Keep the Beat” from Vivo. Too bad I thought the movie was pretty sucky. You have no idea how much it PAINS me to say that, being that I love Lin so. But, woof. It was pretty bad. That song was its one redemption. Been wearing out the “In the Heights” movie soundtrack, naturally.
Currently Watching: I re-watched Felicity. It was just as cozy and chock full of low-talking and chunky sweaters as I remembered it.
In the Heights was JUST as amazing as I imagined it would be and I got my butt to a REAL theater to see it THREE times. Then I watched it again two more times at home.
Currently Reading: I have been just TEARING through the audio books since spring. Feel free to follow me on Goodreads to see everything I’ve been absorbing. In the last few months, I’ve been making my way through Barbara Ehrenreich’s stuff (she’s one of my favorite writers) with Bait and Switch, Nickle and Dimed, This Land is Their Land, and Brightsided. Also read A Very Punchable Face by Colin Jost which was SO DAMN FUNNY I nearly got into a car wreck on my way home from Chicago. I read Without You by Anthony Rapp which was awful. Open Book by Jessica Simpson was surprisingly engaging. The Rules Do Not Apply by Ariel Levy was one I had on my list for a LONG time and was, honestly, kind of boring and disappointing.
Right now I’m re-reading Janesville: An American Story, because it’s about home.
Beverly Cleary died in March. Boo. Her books were EVERYTHING to me when I was a little kid. May have to get that Ramona tattoo I’ve always kicked around the idea of getting.
I started yet ANOTHER writing project. Much like many writers, I’ll probably never finish any of them. This one is a narrative non-fiction book. I’ll tell more if I ever get past the outline/note-taking/idea stage.
The husband and I, along with Betty, got our full round of Fauci Ouchies. Round 2 was a bit of a doozy, but nothing I couldn’t handle. Of course, it may be all for naught if people can’t get their shit together…..but here we are. I’m trying not to think of how awful it is in Florida right now.
My Bridget played T-BALL this summer….proving that we Reseburgs are all not completely hopeless when it comes to athletic endeavors.
I’ve spent months crafting my resume and a litany of cover letters (along with a resume and cover letters for Jon because let’s face it, I’m a better writer). We are both in search of gainful Florida employment.
Florida colleges…..hit my husband up! He’s the instructional technology dreamboat you need! For those wondering, I likely will NOT be continuing Type A Images in Florida. Honestly, it’s just a LOT to start over and, at 41, I kind of want to explore other things. I’ll keep my equipment and hopefully hit up some subcontract work or second shooting gigs here or there. You know, for funsies.
Bridget turned 5 and I’m still not ok.
You guys….Dear Evan Hansen AND Tick Tick Boom are coming this fall. Just a reminder.
Our house goes up for sale next Monday and it’ll be all very real and scary and holy crap we’re actually DOING this.
I bought a minivan. A MINI. VAN.
A huge plant in nearby Rockton blew up. That was…..mildly terrifying.
We tried to take all three girls to a Brewers game and it was an epic disaster. We tried again two days later, sans-Bridget…..went much better.
I actually managed to get the majority of my extended family together for a reunion. I haven’t been able to attend our annual reunions in years, on account of having weddings every weekend in the summer. But, we made it happen this year and it was so wonderful to see everyone.
I’m finishing up sessions and weddings, many being rescheduled from 2020. I’m booked SOLID up until the last week of October, which is going to make the time leading up to our big move to Orlando fly by, for sure.
All three kids will be returning to in-person school….something that makes me a bit uneasy. I would feel SO much better if Molly and Bridget could get vaccinated. But, I think keeping Molly home longer would be really detrimental at this point. 18 months is long enough. Just putting it out there, though….REALLY wish her school district was mandating masks.
I mean….DELTA, people. Cmon. This ain’t the same rodeo we’re used to.
We’ll make the best of it. They’ll only be in school for 3 weeks in Sept. and then Oct and then we’re outta here. Hopefully, by the time we hit the Orange County school district, they’ll have their collective shit together.
