Four Months.
This truly is, as my husband has remarked several times, the “lost” year. I can’t remember what January and February were like. It seems like a lifetime ago. The months are flying by and I feel like nothing is being done, accomplished, or celebrated.
All of the weddings I had for 2020 either moved, cut way back, or cancelled all together. It’s bizarre. I’m looking at a very fluid schedule this year that could change on a dime.
So yes, the thoughts are still very fractured.
READING: Let’s be real, if anything fell to the wayside when we went into lockdown it was reading. I haven’t read a damn thing. I should….I have time now to really dive back into some books. But, no….it’s not doing anything for me right now.
WATCHING: Well, I feel like I’ve reached the end of streaming on all platforms. I got through the entire series of Road to Avonlea, which I really loved. I was sad when I finished it. Right now I’m enjoying Central Park (on Apple TV) and I’ll Be Gone in the Dark. The husband and I LOVE What We Do in the Shadows, but that season ended, sadly. So, I’ve been occupying myself with reruns of House Hunters International and the John Oliver show Last Week Tonight.
And, of course, Hamilton….more on that in a bit.
SPINNING: Music has pretty much been the same. I busted out Rage Against the Machine and Propaghandi a few weeks ago for the first time in forever because it just FELT right.
My 40th birthday came and went with little fanfare. I was supposed to spend that week in Prince Edward Island. That, obviously, didn’t happen. Who knows when I’ll actually get to visit Canada. Instead, I was home. My husband bought me a Lin Manuel Miranda doll. For real. I bought myself a turn-of-the-century wardrobe that I was eyeing on Marketplace. I’m 40 now. Which doesn’t thrill me, to be honest.
Started a new, very involved and difficult cross stitch project. The husband has even picked up cross stitch and completed several projects to my one.
The last day of school came and went almost unnoticed by us because….well…they haven’t seen the inside of a classroom since March 13. Betty will be in 8th grade next year (!!), Molly in 4th and Bridgie will be starting Pre-K…..if they go back at all that is.
SPEAKING of Miss Bridget, she FINALLY got potty trained. I was completely convinced it was never going to happen. Quite happy I don’t have to mess with diapers anymore forever and ever.
I’ve spent the majority of the last month or so with education. With the George Floyd murder and subsequent uprising, I wanted to learn more about my own privilege and about the story of being black in America. I watched a TON of documentaries and had several very good discussions with folks I admire. I figure in my 40th year it’s time to embrace learning new information and allowing that to influence my view of the world. I want to CONTINUE learning…..every day.
Molly FINALLY got her insulin pump! It’s been a long time coming! We have to take a 3 hour class to learn how to use it, but I’m hoping this helps her keep her blood sugar in check.
Hamilton. Oh Hamilton…..they released the movie….which just, honestly, made my year. Considering how shit-tastic this year has been thus far that’s really not saying much, but it was still a pretty big deal in the Reseburg household. The movie did NOT disappoint. It will be regular watching, I’m sure, for years to come.
Type A IS shooting again. I’m doing socially distanced senior and family sessions. There’s a few weddings sprinkled in there too. So, if you are class of 2021, now is a really good time to reserve your date for your Senior Portraits. Fall dates are going to be snatched up in full pretty soon.
Getting Married in 2021 or Moving Your Event from this year to next? Let’s chat. I’m offering a special on newly booked weddings right now…..because let’s face it, everyone could use a bit of a break.
Shoot me an email at typeaimages@gmail.com and let’s chat about your event!
